GreenWood
Fishery and Nature Reserve
A
tranquil water in a mature, natural wildlife haven in the
rural heart of Cheshire.
Superb stocks
- all coarse species.
An idyllic venue
for all discerning anglers.
Set in
eight acres of Cheshire heartland, is a privately owned, nonprofit
making, rural regeneration project. All available income from
the fishery is ploughed back into the management and upgrading
of our fish stocks. We will be carrying out much maintenance
and further development work to enhance the local environment.
Providing a peaceful, caring, haven for wildlife and the conservation
and improvement of our local countryside.
Not only
anglers, but the public, in general, are welcome to visit
on most days of the year, to enjoy a relaxing experience in
natural surroundings - a veritable 'rural - oasis'. Work on
this project continues nonstop throughout the year.
There
is easy access from both the M56 and M6 motorways via the
A49, with spacious on-site car parking. The fishery itself
is a clear, healthy, Still Water Lake, ranging from 3 to 15
feet deep. Set in idyllic, well-wooded, mature surroundings
with ancient water lilies, bulrushes with active water life
and superb stock.
The total number of pegs is restricted to 34; most of them
are widely spaced and have their own specially built access.
With safety in mind (but keeping with the rural scene), there
are wide pathways, handrails and purpose built stairways all
round to provide safe access to the pegs. Other safety measures,
including lifebelts, rescue boat and qualified First Aid is
in place, as required under the Health and Safety acts (see
onsite notice board). Disabled anglers, including wheelchair
disabled are welcomed to use one of our five specially adapted
facilities available. Parking from the disabled pegs is only
10 yards away with toilet facilities close to hand.
Day-ticket,
night fishing (bivvying), long stay and angling holidays with
on-site accommodation are catered for. A wide range of hot
meals, snacks, soft drinks, sweets, ices and beverages are
available at our fully equipped catering unit with barbecue
facility. Available site services include include 230-volt
electrical supply and drinking water.
We offer
generous concessions to registered disabled, senior citizens
and junior anglers. Club fishing matches are arranged throughout
the year (see onsite notice board). Visitors including non-angling
companions, friends and general sight seers are welcomed 'free
of charge' during normal daytime open hours
